Biological safety (biosafety) is the art and science of lowering the risk of getting infected from a biological agent. It’s really just part of public health and basic information to keep you safe from infectious diseases. If you have ever had a fever in your life, more than likely you have been infected by a biological agent. If you had known more about biosafety, you may have avoided that infection.
It’s food safety. It’s better sanitation. It’s better hygiene. It’s better pet safety. It’s just common sense!
biosafety
[ bahy-oh-seyf-tee ] - noun
The application of knowledge, techniques and equipment to prevent personal, laboratory and environmental exposure to potentially infectious agents or biohazards.
Biosafety is about increasing your safety
when interacting with biological agents or pathogens
We don’t realize it, but we are actually exposed to pathogens every day. No one wants to get sick, make others sick or contaminate the environment. This is safety for you, your community (friends, colleagues, family, pets) and the environment (air, water, soil). You can be safer through the actions you take, the equipment (mask, gloves, etc.) you use, and the environment you work in. Learn what the risks are and how to reduce them.
pathogen -
any disease-producing agent, especially a virus, bacterium, or other microorganism.
infectious diseases kill over 17 million people each year

Learn your way all free
If you’re new to biosafety, a health care provider or a biosafety professional, there is knowledge for all levels. You can choose to take a full comprehensive course (public or professional), watch individual on-demand video lessons, or read instructional material. Everything is FREE to watch, read, download and share. No sign-up required.
